The No-Partisan-Cheapshot Zone

Too good not to share: Robola's rip on Charlie Sykes on Jimmy Carter's remarks at King funeral, which were entirely appropriate.

If Sykes thinks birthday parties and dinner parties are No Partisan Cheapshot Zones, it's a good thing we don't socialize (not that there's ever been any danger of that.) In liberal circles, it's no holds barred.

Carter, of course, didn't take a cheap shot. In doubt? Watch the video on Robola's post.

It's nice to see you've now distanced yourself from John Kerry's comments which you quoted approvingly after Veteran's Day.

Politics is a contact sport; if you can't take the heat, look for another vocation.

Dean - I don't think anyone gets the point you're trying to make... What does an open exchange of ideas amongst liberals have to do with John Kerry calling for an honest solution to Iraq? I'd love to understand your argument, but something is missing.

Bill - Thanks for the link!

Sorry my point is obscure. Xoff was approving of Carter, et al., of bringing politics before the president during the funeral. He quoted in that long ago post of Kerry criticizing Bush for politicizing Veteran's Day. So I'm confused; do we politicize remembrance ceremonies, or not?

there's a difference when it's state sponsored. Remember, it's illegal for military personnel to campaign in uniform for a candidate while on active duty. Mixing military and campaign activities is much different than an ex-president speaking at a funeral.

I can see why you'd want to bring that up, but I don't see the connection as vivid as you'd like. Thanks for clarifying.
