Catching up on the news

Hmmm, where have I read this item from Spiceblog about Sensenbrenner before?

Making sense of Sensenbrenner

Not everyone is impressed by House Judiciary Chairman F. James Sensenbrenner's zeal in attacking the FBI for its search of the offices of U.S. Rep. William J. Jefferson - you know, the guy who had 90 grand in cold cash stashed in his freezer.

Dana Milbank of the Washington Post had this to say about the Wisconsin Republican's hearing this week on the matter:

When asked to hold hearings on the rendition and torture of terrorism suspects, House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner Jr. (R-Wis.) respectfully declined.

Invited repeatedly to probe the Bush administration's leaking of a CIA operative's identity, the chairman sent his regrets.

Urged to have hearings dedicated to the administration's warrantless eavesdropping, Sensenbrenner demurred once more.

But when FBI agents searched a congressional office 11 days ago, Sensenbrenner went up to the attic and found his gavel.

Milbank's salvo was the second shot fired by the East Coast media at the Republican heavyweight in recent days. A recent New York Times editorial referred to him as the "head brick" for the highly publicized role he's taking in immigration reform
Oh, that's it. Right here Wednesday morning. The NY Times editorial they mention was here on Tuesday morning.

The Spiceblog says:
Journal Sentinel columnists Cary Spivak and Dan Bice trudge through the scores of local political blogs so you don’t have to.
I'm thinking of a new slogan: Xoff reads the NY Times and WashPost so the Spice Boys don't have to.
