Wisconsin's designation as the "most representatative state" in a recent study has prompted comments from Paul Soglin and others.

When he was running for governor a couple of eons ago, Tom Loftus used to say that the people of Wisconsin were the drunkest, the fattest, and the most honest in the country.

As I recall, the "drunkest" claim was based on brandy consumption, and the "fattest" on a study that said Wisconsin had the most obese people at the time.

The "most honest," I believe, came from some statistic about Wisconsin people having the best record for filing their income taxes. I thought it should have been for telling the truth in the obesity survey.
