Sensenbrenner, Frist mobilized Latinos

A columnist in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram offers this take on the immigration debate:

Lawmakers did Latinos a big favor

Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist should be flooded with thank-you notes from Latino leaders and Democrats after Latinos nationwide were mobilized to march for comprehensive, compassionate immigration reform.

The members of Congress, through their hunt-them-jail-them-boot-them-block-them immigration proposals, have galvanized Latino immigrants and activists.

Sensenbrenner's and Frist's fear-mongering have roused U.S. citizens and the undocumented to take a careful look at this country's view of immigration. Is immigration a path to the American Dream or the American Nightmare?

Just when you thought the GOP was making real inroads into the Latino community, F.J. and friends go and do something like this. Thanks, guys.

Love, a Democrat.
