Cue the crickets

I think it's safe to say that the Steve King-Martha Mitchell-Watergate story scored a direct hit.

How do you know?

By the defeaning silence from the neocon hordes out there in the Cheddarsphere.

It's 24 hours now since I exposed King's role as a Watergate thug, and there has been not a peep from the McSykes Righteous Indignation Brigade.

Unlike the blogswarm some of my posts have created, I've seen nary a mention in any of the major right-wing blogs that I skim every day.

None of the usual howls of outrage. No defense of Steve King. No denial of his role. No claim I am falsely accusing him. And certainly no defense of the Nixon=Doyle commercial that started the conversation about where people were the night of the Watergate break-in.

There's a reason for that. The ad, and Steve King's actions during the Watergate coverup, are indefensible.

If this were a McSykes radio show, we'd be playing sound effects of crickets right about now.

It's very quiet out there.

UPDATE:
Steve King's non-denial denial.

Let me understand this - what happened 30+ years ago matters - but what Doyle has done as governor the last 3+ years and all of his history as AG - doesn't matter?

Oh thats right - I forgot who was paying you to blog.

Clint--are you suggesting that these allegations have actual merit, but that they shouldn't matter because it was "30+ years ago?" It kind of sounds that way.

These are just allegations, but the Bucher campaign should offer some response--he does want to be the state's top cop after all. Bringing someone with these kinds of unresolved allegations into his campaign surely calls into question Bucher's judgment on the people he’ll surround himself with if elected.

Did Bucher ask King about the allegations and, if he did, what was the response? If Bucher didn’t ask, why not?

Recycled from his senate run...

Q: What's Steve King's position on Drugs?

A: On top of martha Mitchell, with his thumb behind the plunger.
