Frank: No, thanks
Here's a piece of enterprising journalism: With reports appearing here and there that Corrections Secretary Matt Frank might be ready to run for attorney general (at the governor's urging), Journal Sentinel reporter Stacy Forster asked Frank himself.
The answer was no, no, no. He wasn't thinking about, hadn't been thinking about it, and hadn't talked to the gov about it.
But it was good for a day's buzz in the Capitol on a boring day, I guess. Where does this stuff come from?
JS blog also has a piece on the AG race and whether Kathleen Falk will challenge or push aside Peg Lautenschlager. Unless I missed it, a story on Falk's ruminations has not run in Milwaukee, so most Milwaukeeans are in the dark about it. Putting it on the blog won't help much, either.
I'm enjoying the JS blog, but I'm beginning to see a danger. It is an outlet for the reporters, who feel like they've gotten the word out; provides some info to insiders and junkies who read this stuff online; but to the editors becomes a way to push stories out of the print edition and still be able to say they ran something. It will be too bad if that is what happens.
