Mayors fight global warming

Upset by the Bush administration's refusal to participate in the Kyoto protocol and make a commitment to combating global warming, Seattle's mayor has begun enlisting mayors across the country to take action at the local level.

So far, 132 mayors have signed on, the New York Times reported on Sunday.

The list includes the mayors of four Wisconsin cities -- and not necessarily the ones you'd guess. Of course Madison's Mayor Dave is on the list. So is John Medinger, who just left office in LaCrosse. But there are also two suburban Milwaukee mayors -- Theresa Estness of Wauwatosa and Michael Neitzke of Greenfield. So far, no Tom Barrett. For more, here's the website.
