'I like guys with five deferments
who send people to war...'
In recent days, President Bush and other top administration officials have lashed out at critics of the war and have accused Democrats of advocating a ''cut and run'' strategy that will only embolden the insurgency. Speaker Dennis Hastert called it a "white flag" policy today.
Vice President Dick Cheney jumped into the fray Wednesday by assailing Democrats who contend the Bush administration manipulated intelligence on Iraq, calling their criticism ''one of the most dishonest and reprehensible charges ever aired in this city.''
Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., (pictured) a Marine intelligence officer in Vietnam, angrily shot back at Cheney: ''I like guys who've never been there that criticize us who've been there. I like that. I like guys who got five deferments and never been there and send people to war, and then don't like to hear suggestions about what needs to be done.''
Referring to Bush, Murtha added: ''I resent the fact, on Veterans Day, he criticized Democrats for criticizing them.'' Murtha, one of the leading Democratic hawks, called today for US troops to pull out of Iraq.
And Murtha knows a Chickenhawk when he sees one.

So, you're in favor of surrendering civilian control over the military?
"Taking advice from people with actual military experience" != "surrendering civilian control of the military."
Are all conservative bloggers obnoxious trolls?
Murtha: "...a leading Democrat HAWK?"
Get serious, X.
Like Will Rogers, all I know is what I read in the newspaper. Here's WashPost headline and lede:

GOP Assails Murtha's Demand to Leave Iraq

The top House Democrat on military spending matters stunned colleagues yesterday by calling for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq,
No, are all moonbats unwashed hippies from the 1960s?
Stop reading the PAPERS and start reading NEWS OUTLETS--see Drudge, who cites Murtha's anti-war comments of 18 months ago.
Please recall that Ben Arnold was also a "Decorated War Veteran."
So Drudge is a "news outlet?"
Stop the press!
Remind me, Dad, what your credentials are to call a 37-year Marine veteran a traitor.
I guess I stopped thinking of Matt Drudge as a credible source when he reported his exclusive on John Kerry's affair with a Senate intern -- which turned out, of course, to be totally false.
Murtha has questioned the war for awhile, not because a traitor but because of how much he truly cares about the troops. If you watched the debate on C-Span -- an unfiltered "news outlet" -- you'd realize that.
