Rightists Miss the Point on Censure Issue
Some Rightist bloggers and GOP pols are crowing about the lack of support among Democratic electeds for Russ Feingold's resolution of censure for President Bush.
The Righties are spinning that Republicans can use the Feingold resolution to rally around Bush and turn things around.
Forget it. Polls are showing the Bush presidency flat-lining. Too many failures, too much botched leadership. The public has decided that Bush is in over his head and that Cheney is an albatross. The only unanswered questions are how many seats the GOP will lose in the '06 Congressional elections and whether the Dems can find a winning candidate in '08.
The Feingold resolution isn't going to save Bush. It will help the Dems sort out who they are, and as I said in an earlier posting, the idea will gain currency, much as Feingold's opposition to the Patriot Act USA became more acceptable as time went on.

If your expectation of the fall election cycle involves a prophetic Senator Russell Feingold leading the electorate to the Democrat Holy Land, you are going to be very disappointed.
The Democrats have not developed a coherent message or an honest agenda, nor will they. You need to do better than “Bush sucks.”
The congressional balance of power will be a virtually unchanged.
It is fun to daydream though.
Xout again provides an example of intellectual poverty. Thanks.
The idea will become more popular like opposition to the Patriot Act. In other words, Russ' position will evolve from loony outlier to decidedly minority?
In the final estimate, we all walk by faith and not by light. Jim is just giving us a secular version of that.

Prophetic stuff.
There are some who expand the envelope, and some who get fed into the shredder. Feingoldism is on it's way to the shredder. We have just seen the biggest overreach since Joe McCarthy took on the Army. Congratulations. You're supporting a flake.
Jim
Bet ya that not too far beyond the 2006 election even Republicans will be getting so sick of Bush they will want to put him out of his misery, including Wigderson.
As far as Russ being too fair out of the mainstream, perhaps not.
Check out this latest poll -- http://americanresearchgroup.com/.
In fact only 57% of Republicans are against censure.
Things are not looking good in Wisconsin wingnutville.
Jim, I think you are coming unglued. Must be some kind of sympathy pang for Senator Russel Feingold.
