New standard: Appoint strangers or enemies

This was bound to come sooner or later. It's just surprising that a rabid partisan, Brian Fraley, beat goo-goos McCabe and Heck to the punch.

We already know it is wrong to give a state contract to anyone who has ever given money to your campaign in the past, or might consider doing so in the future, even in a year or two.

The next logical step: It is wrong to appoint people who support you politically to the Board of Regents, according to Fraley.

New standard: Appoint only people who you don't know, or who oppose you. Just like Tommy used to do, when he named Jim Klauser, Fred Mohs, Greg Gracz, Gerard Randall, Jay Smith, Roger Axtell, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, as the King of Siam would say.
