Sensenbrenner bill catches flak

It was attached to a must-pass bill, but the proposal by Badger Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner to create what many see as a national ID card is catching some heat.

A NY Times editorial Wednesday said: "The most optimistic explanation for the Congressional leaders' irresponsibility on this issue is that it's a sop to conservatives led by ... Sensenbrenner."

And a NY Sun story raises the question that Sensenbrenner's bill will suspend the right of habeas corpus for the first time since the Civil War.

Makes you kinda proud, don't it?
