Hooded Doyle bashes innocent children

"In 1964, a racist governor from Georgia named Lester Maddox wielded an axe handle to chase away African-Americans who wanted to order fried chicken at his segregated restaurant.

"Now, in 2006, a governor from Wisconsin named Jim Doyle is threatening to bash in the heads of innocent African-American schoolchildren to prevent them from attending choice schools in Milwaukee.

"Tell Gov. Doyle to stop dressing up in a hooded bed sheet and burning fiery crosses on the playgrounds of private schools. Tell the governor that, unlike those lousy public schools, private schools should get unlimited piles of tax funds without any public accountability."
Joel McNally on the school choice ads running in Milwaukee.

Pretty sad when McNally has to exaggerate the other side's position to try and discredit it. What does he prove? That the much more reasonable ads by the pro-choice advocates are dead on? That they tell the truth? That the only way the friends of Doyle and the teachers' union can win is by shameless mischaracterizations?

I ask again of Norquist's former chief of staff, how many African American kids are you willing to advocate throwing out of the choice program?

WOW! "Pretty sad when McNally has to exaggerate the other side's position to try and discredit it."

Sounds like EXACTLY what the voucher lobby is doing: Calling the Governor a racist while hiding the fact that they defeated a rule that would have allowed all choice pupils to remain in the school of their choice, cap or no cap.

"How many African American kids are you willing to advocate throwing out of the choice program?"

The voucher lobby's answer to the above question: AS MANY AS NEEDED - based on its defeat of the 2004 DPI rule that would have protected *all* kids currently in the choice program.
