Former Governor and HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson says he'll make an announcement about his political future at the GOP convention in May. He told Rob and Susan on the News3 Morning Show just that.

"I'm going to be making a speech at the Republican convention and I'll make a decision a little bit prior to that time but will be announcing it at the Republican convention," Thompson said. The GOP convention is May 19-21 in Appleton.

Thompson fueled speculation by saying he was ready for anything that was thrown at him "whether it be Governor, or U.S. Senator or running for mayor of Elroy."

He didn't trash his potential primary opponent saying Mark Green an "excellent" candidate and a "fine young man."Since leaving his cabinet post, Thompson has been traveling the country making speeches on health care. He's also President of Logistics Health based in La Crosse, Wis. He is also practicing law at the firm of Akin Gump in Washington, D.C.
