Another local minimum wage?

Republican state legislators' continued blockage of a state minimum wage increase may cause yet another Wisconsin city to adopt its own local minimum wage ordinance.

This time it's Eau Claire, where an ordinance has been introduced to raise the rate from $5.15 to $6.65, in steps.

Madison, Milwaukee, and LaCrosse all have adopted local ordinances in hopes of adding pressure for state action. So far, the Republicans who control the legislature have blocked action on a state raise, and instead have tried to pass a bill prohibiting local governments from setting their own rates.

The Eau Claire story.
