Running against the Republican war

The first House candidate in Wisconsin has gone on television to call for an end in the war in Iraq. It’s Nancy Nusbaum, who’s running for the seat being vacated by Rep. Mark Green, who heads the Victory in Iraq Caucus in the House. Script and video.

Presumably, whether Nusbaum or someone else wins the three-way Dem primary, the Democrat will use the issue as one way to draw a contrast on priorities and values with the Repub nominee, most likely John Gard, who had Iraq war architect Dick Cheney in for a fundraiser awhile back.

If I were running against Victory in Iraq Mark Green himself-- the war's biggest fan/cheerleader -- I’d hang the war around his neck and make him defend it. He’s clearly on the wrong side of public opinion, and more importantly on the wrong side for national security. Let Green argue that it’s not an issue for the governor; it’s an issue for every single American, not just members of Congress.

That’s my free advice for the day, Gov.

Well, at least we know who wears the pants in the Nusbaum family. She didn't even let him speak. Joey, you should probably watch the ad again. It was all about cut and run. You say the argument is getting old but it's exactly what she said..."Give it back to the Iraqis and bring our troops home." I don't know how you can say cut and run any clearer.

When it comes to Iraq, there are only 2 options...stay the course or cut and run. Is there some middle ground there that I'm not aware of? That ad did nothing to set her apart from the other candidates. What a waste of air time!
