Capturing the gnat vote

Another reason political campaigns and commercials insult the intelligence of anyone who's really following the races and the issues:
Respondents [to a Zogby poll] were far more familiar with the Three Stooges — Larry, Curly and Moe — than the three branches of the U.S. government — judicial, executive and legislative. Seventy-four percent identified the former, 42 percent the latter.
The campaigns are trying to persuade voters with the intellectual capacity and attention span of a gnat.

Afterthought: Hmmm. If that's the target audience, maybe the Green family spot does work.

Hat tip: Babblemur.
